How to Make the Most of Your Free Time

You've finally got the kids to bed and the house is quiet.  What do you do when you have a few minutes to yourself?

Do you get on facebook? Read a book? Watch something on netflix? Have a snack? Leave the husband at home and go to Target?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing any of these things.  But I want to offer something for you to consider.

How much of your free time do you spend creating vs just consuming?

Consuming is easier for sure.  It's passive and doesn't take as much energy.  It gives your brain a nice little cheap dopamine hit. How much time do you spend looking at projects on pinterest vs actually creating them?

Humans have an innate need to create and contribute.  No other animal can create like we do, it's one of the things that makes us human.  Too often we try and meet this need with consuming.   Creation feels like more effort, but it's much more invigorating and exciting than sitting on the couch watching TV.

Consuming is fine sometimes.  Just ask yourself if you are doing too much of it.  Could you serve yourself or the world better by creating instead?

Sometimes people don't create because they aren't sure what they are good at.  I can help you figure it out in a free mini session.

“A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner—continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you—is a fine art, in and of itself.”
