What The Other Moms Are Really Thinking

You feel judged by the other moms.

You don't want to go to playgroup because your kid is so much more hyper than the other kids.

Last time you went you could tell they were annoyed.

You are sure that they think you don't discipline your child enough.

When you start to suspect that everyone is judging you and your child I want you to sit down and ask yourself a couple of questions.

1. What are the names of the people who I feel judge me?

Your brain is wired to look for danger.  Many times when you feel judged by one or two people your brain will tell you that everyone is judging us.  I think you'll be surprised that the number is actually much smaller than you think.  It certainly isn't everyone.  When you think it's everyone, you are missing out on noticing the people that want to connect with you.

2. So what?

Guess what? Some of the other moms are for sure judging you.  What are you making that mean?
Are you making it mean that you are a bad mom? Are you making it mean that you should stay home and not take your child in public? Are you making it mean that there is something wrong with your child?  Are you making it mean that no one out there understands?

What other people think of you (or your child) is none of your business.  What other people think about you is because of what is going on in THEIR brain.  It really has nothing to do with you.

3. What do YOU think of YOU?

Do you wish you could show up better as a mom? Do you have a lot of guilt over your child's behavior? Do you think there is something wrong with your kid and maybe it's your fault?

Did you answer yes to any of these questions? When you are worried about other people judging you, it's a reflection of how you are judging yourself.

Don't waste another ounce of energy on the impossible task of managing what other people think or feel about you.

Your work is to decide what you think and feel about yourself.  I can teach you how in a free mini session.
