"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King Jr.
When your house is a giant disaster (again)
when you lost your temper with your kids (again)
when you are late getting the kids to school (again)
when there isn't anything in the house to eat for dinner except cereal
when you wasted the whole afternoon on social media
when you just want to go in your bedroom and lock the door
what do you say to yourself?
Are you kind to you? Watch this video friend.
It's ok to want to change. It's ok to want to be better. But are you doing it from a place of love?
Are you giving yourself these two gifts?
Curiosity- Be willing to find out what you really believe. So many of your thoughts about the world go undetected by you. You've thought them so many times, that you just believe them without question. Knowing what you really believe is so important because it explains why you do what you do. If you aren't sure how to find out what those beliefs are, I can help you in a free mini session.
Fair warning though: you'll be surprised by what you find!
Compassion- You can't hurt yourself into changing into a better version of you. Evolving into a better version of you requires self love. It requires digging deep into that brain of yours and finding what's there. Sometimes you won't like what you find, and that's ok. If you can maintain compassion for yourself through this process, it will be so much easier. Not just easier, possible.
Beating yourself up is never going to get you where you want to go. Only love can do that.
